Most of this section is shaded and through wooded area, so it does not have the best views, but it is a nice and relaxing hike where you can hear the sound of Hong Kong’s nature. Walking up on Smuggler’s Ridge is probably the toughest part of this hike.

How to get there:  Allow 45 minutes travel time from Central to Starting point at Kowloon Reservoir.

Take MTR to Sham Shui Po Station and leave by Exit D2. Walk up to Kweilin Street to Tai Po Rd and continue uphill. Pass the Garden Biscuit Factory, use the bus stop opposite the North Kowloon Magistracy. Take bus 72, 81 or 86B. Get off at Kowloon Reservoir/Sha Tin Heights on Tai Po Rd after the parking area, on the left where Kowloon Reservoir meets the Road. 

You can also take MTR to Prince Edward (exit E) and take bus no 81 from Nathan Rd.

How to get home:  You will finish this section at Pineapple Dam, Shing Mun Reservoir. Take green minibus 23K or 23S to the Tai Po Market MTR or green minibus no 82 to Shiu Wo Street and walk about 10min to Tsuen Wan MTR station.
