The first section of MacLehose Trail takes you to Sai Kung East Country Park. The trail leads you along High Island Reservoir, the largest reservoir in the territory, and is mostly on flat concrete roads. It is a long hike but an easy one. Private cars are not allowed to drive here, but there are taxis.

Highlights: Nice views over High Island Reservoir and stunning views over Long Ke beach.

How to get there: Take the MTR to Dimond Hill, take bus 92 from the bus station, get off at the terminus in Sai Kung. From Sai Kung it is easiest to take a taxi to the starting point “Country Park Visitor Centre at Pak Tam Chung” but you can also take take bus 94.

How to get home: The best way is to continue on to section 2. There is no access road, so you have to reserve a taxi and return on the same road, or walk back.
